Tony D’Angelo has dedicated his life to helping young adults to create a life worth living and a game worth playing. Back in 1995 at the young age of twenty-three, Tony set out on his vision to transform American Higher Education. As he says, “Most students go to college and get a degree, but not an education.” Tony D’Angelo is an educational entrepreneur hell-bent on making his vision a reality and has considered the past 28 years of his career as merely a launch pad to his bigger future.

He barely graduated college by the skin of his teeth from West Chester University (PA) in August of 1994, with a BS in Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition and a voice/vocal minor. Tony spent most of his time in pursuit of his education – not his degree – by having a life outside of the classroom. He spent countless hours learning about the real world through his student involvement activities in student government, rummaging through the stacks of books in the Harvey Green Library, hiking the trails of the woods on South Campus, and listening to hours of personal development audio books with his Theta Chi Fraternity brothers.

In the mid-1990’s Tony D’Angelo and a few notable professional speakers are credited for developing the cottage industry of the college speaking industry for non-celebrity, non-academic speakers. This industry has grown into an estimated $500 million dollar industry in the past decade thanks in part to the early efforts of Mr. D’Angelo and early industry pioneers. What Tony started over two decades ago has transformed into the nationally recognized 501c3 non-profit/for-purpose educational production company called Collegiate Empowerment® to help students get what they want & need from their college experience.

In his early 20’s, Tony became an in-demand professional speaker serving the college & young adult market under the moniker of EmPower X!. Amidst the angst of the Gen X and grunge movements evolved the mission of EmPower X!: Helping Our Generation Help Itself. By the late 1990’s, D’Angelo accomplished one of the most notable feats of the industry today in that he has presented to over 1 million college students from over 2,500 US college campuses. During his time as an active speaker, he also wrote The College Blue Book which has over 100,000 copies in print and he served as the catalyst, associate editor, and #1 contributing author of the New York Times Bestselling book, Chicken Soup for The College Soul. As a popular speaker, Tony has also been featured and quoted on hundreds of national media outlets including CNN, SPIN Magazine, Woman’s Day, Real Simple and Oprah’s O Magazine.
