ALIX COHLER

FACILITATOR & COACH

LONG STORY SHORT

From the spelling of my nickname, I’ve always been an iconoclast. I started performing at the age of three and have always felt most comfortable on a stage and in front of an audience. I am also most passionate about showing others, both by example and more explicitly, that they don’t have to be stuck in the boxes to which they’ve been assigned. As soon as I heard about Collegiate Empowerment, I knew it was the perfect marriage of these two life paths. And I was right.

THE REST OF THE STORY

I joined Collegiate Empowerment because of a casting call on an acting website. At that time, I was teaching English, Math, and SAT preparation to middle and high-school students by day and doing a lot of independent theater by night. Collegiate Empowerment describes their candidates as “Educational Performers” and, as I read through the job description, I found myself making mental checkmarks (Yup, I do that … and that … and that!). When I applied, my cover letter basically said “This is what I do—you should hire me!” Luckily, they did!

I started out as an Educational Performer but, as I’ve grown with the company, I’ve discovered other passions and have been able to lean into them more and more fully. I’m now a content developer with Collegiate Empowerment’s sexual assault education project, The Zero Shades® Trilogy, a true passion project of mine; a coach for Higher Education Professionals; a sales consultant; and embarking on a leadership role within the team itself. I love how the more I explore my personal mission, the more I discover it’s aligned with Collegiate Empowerment’s. I get to think outside my own boxes everyday to inspire others to go after their dreams even if they have to break down some walls along the way. Supporting all the clients we serve—the students, the professionals, and our team members—is both an honor and a privilege.

REAL GPA

My Core Genius is Creativity and Leadership. I use my Creativity all the time—in shows when I’m constantly refining seminars I’ve done 100 times to make sure that they fit with what the students want and need. I also use this gift in my coaching when I think outside the box and encourage my clients to do the same and in consulting with clients to come up with solutions to problems that previously seemed unsolvable. I use my Leadership to guide people towards those outcomes and solutions.

OUTSIDE OF CE

I’m a born-and-bred New Yorker (so, in other words, a unicorn) and I’m proud that my fiancé and I still call this city our home. When not working with Collegiate Empowerment, I’m also an actress and voiceover artist; I’ve performed such “out of the box” roles as Iago in Othello and Hamlet in Hamlet. I also specialize in narrating consensual romance and erotica books (all engineered by my brilliant fiancé) and I work with artists and high school students on helping them define their visions and create the life they want.

SIGNATURE MOVE

Snarky sophistication and a killer French accent.
