Become An Intern

Deep discussion at the Fall 2015 CE Summit.

SO, YOU'RE ASKING THE INTERNSHIP QUESTION.

“To get a job, you need experience. To get experience, you need a job.”

You've heard this catch 22 before, and it's not true here. Collegiate Empowerment is a school where you will co-create a job that gives you the experience you want and need for your brighter future. You're here now not just because you “need” an internship, but more importantly you're excited to continue taking your higher education deeper while finding purpose and meaning along the way. This experience empowers you to enhance your personal and professional development, spread the Collegiate Empowerment movement, and prevent a miserable career journey.

THIS WILL BE YOUR APPRENTICESHIP.

When people ask us if we have an internship program, we say, “No, not in the usual way. We are committed to working with people that offer something we don't yet have. If you create value that is really useful to our organization and the market we serve, we’ll develop an experience specifically for you.”

It’s not an internship; it’s an apprenticeship. You volunteer your time and we will provide 10X the amount of value in return. This experience is designed for personal development, self improvement, and professional advancement. You’ll be energized, engaged, and empowered, as well as challenged to rise to your next level of purpose, performance, productivity, and professionalism.

THE SIX REASONS WE'RE ON THIS TEAM...

We believe you're here because you have something to offer the world. We believe you are here for any number of reasons.

  1. To Learn & Grow: Collegiate Empowerment is a school where you learn What College Forgets To Teach You™

  2. To Present & Perform: Our diverse team of ever-expanding facilitators make the biggest difference in what we do.

  3. To Create & Write: We are entrepreneurial-minded and want to make a mark in the world by providing value.

  4. To Market, Enroll, & Influence: We fulfill our mission by first “selling” our ideas and offerings to Higher Education.

  5. To Serve Others: We are mission-driven with a vision bigger than any one of us.

  6. To Be A Part Of Something Bigger: Every time someone joins the team, our vision and impact expands.

Or...maybe we’re wrong and you are here just for a resume builder. No thanks.

HERE'S HOW YOUR CE APPRENTICESHIP WORKS...

  1. Decide that Collegiate Empowerment is part of your calling.

  2. Decide that you're willing to create value first before asking for compensation. This is an unpaid experience and you will have the economic opportunity to earn revenue as a result of spreading the CE Movement.

  3. Choose the term of your experience: 6 months during Q2–Q3 from April through September, with a possible extension.

  4. Complete the application along with your Core Genius and Core Passion Profiles for placement.

  5. Focus your internship on discovering your Real GPA through various activities and tasks. This is YOUR apprenticeship, not ours. You should get more out of it than we do. And you will as long as you come here to provide value first.

THE PROS & CONS ARE THE SAME...

  • You'll work from home (or wherever you may be). We are a remote-first entrepreneurial organization with people across the Northeast.

  • Choose your own hours (mostly). If you're a self-starter and can stay motivated, great! If you need guidance and accountability, we can help.

  • When you meet your goals, leave work. There is no time clock for checking in and out of work. We are results-oriented where you focus on getting stuff done, and when you meet those goals and/or benchmarks, you're done. Conversely, you can trade time for money. Sit there until it's closing time even if you finished your work. We don’t play that game.

  • You don't have to come into the office, so you can wear your pajamas to work. We believe, though, that you should shower and stay groomed.

  • Most apprentices invest 5-10 hours a week building their experience, working around their personal and academic schedules.

  • This is an unpaid educational experience where you will earn revenue when you create revenue opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Participate in the Collegiate Empowerment Weekly Call via Zoom video every Tuesday at 3–3:45p EST. Listen, learn, contribute.

  • You should be familiar with Google Drive and Microsoft PowerPoint. Seriously, it’s about time.

  • You can be a student (sophomore or older) or grad student from any American college or university, enrolled in any major, taking classes morning or night, living anywhere in the United States.

  • Show up on time, do what you say you’re going to do, say please, and say thank you.

  • Be willing to fail frequently, fail fast, but fail forward.

BONUS RECOMMENDATIONS...

  • Don’t worry, be happy. We don’t want miserable people on this team.

  • Avoid drama, distractions, delays, and disrespect. To be a good team player, don’t carry this baggage with you.

  • If you are or were a student leader and involved on campus, that will make this so much easier for all of us.

  • You follow through and keep commitments to other people and promises to yourself

  • Make this more than just some job experience; you’re worth it.

  • Attend one of our in-person CE Summits, taking place the first week of May and December in Easton, PA.

Get everything ready in advance; your responses are not saved if you close the application before submitting.
