What Every College Student Needs To Know®
About Being An Orientation Leader

Are you and your student leaders ready for New Student Orientation?! It’s time to kick off the peak season! Let’s ENERGIZE and get motivated for the year. Let’s ENGAGE with a deeper sense of purpose and meaning for this important work that we do. Let’s EMPOWER each other to build a greater community. Collegiate Empowerment is here to help you make the most of this experience so let’s get NSO started!

Hold on. Remember: this isn’t about what your Orientation Leaders needs; it’s what your new and transfer students need, and then equipping your Orientation Leaders with the mindset, knowledge, and abilities to help their student groups navigate their first year on campus.

College is also supposed to be the best four years of your life, but if that were true, then the rest of your life would suck. College is designed to provide students with opportunities to create the life of their dreams, and Orientation Leaders play a large role in being a catalyst for doing so. Colleges and universities have existed for more than 375 years, and students are still graduating with no clear direction or path in life. This experience is designed to guide Orientation Leaders to help their students maximize their college experience both inside and outside the classroom.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Orientation Leaders will feel comfortable engaging with new students, get excited about coming back to campus, learn to enthusiastically get the students engaged (wherever they are with their outreach plan), prepare for the year.

  • Orientation Leaders will understand how to energize, connect, and engage in person with small groups of 20-40, while converting their ice breakers into energizers and community builders.

  • Orientation Leaders will discover how to become a trusted mentor, an advisor, and a guide to establish a dynamic relationship with their student groups.

In this high-energy and interactive experience, we will co-create an empowered experience for new and transfer students, learn how to share our own stories to inspire students to create their story, and ultimately get back to the heart of what it means to be an Orientation Leader.

What you do as a leader is both a privilege and an obligation. Leading through a mentorship lens makes a real difference as we work with students to create a caring and compassionate campus culture that makes us proud.
